BLOOD DRIVE
This year's first blood drive will take place on Wednesday October 24 in our gym. Signups will take place at lunch all week in the Learning Commons at lunch. Blood typing will take place on Tuesday October 9 in the atrium. 



The Horatio Alger Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Ontario Scholarship is awarded to full-time students in Ontario with financial need who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as strength of character, a good academic record, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, and a desire to contribute to society.


This Scholarship is due October 25th!!!!! Further information on this scholarship can be found through the guidance portal.  




Loran Leadership Award
Nominations are still needed for the Loran Leadership Award.

Applicants must be in their graduating year, present a minimum cumulative average of 85% and hold a Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status. Each school may sponsor up to three candidates.

See Ms. Cuderman in guidance if you wish to be nominated well before the due date of October 17th.

Their motto is character, service, and leadership.  This organization offers the country’s largest and most comprehensive four-year undergraduate award (valued at $100,000) to young Canadians on the basis of character, service and the promise of leadership!

University of Toronto National Scholarship
The University of Toronto National Book Award Program is intended to recognize and 

reward the very best Canadian secondary school students, regardless of which university

 those students choose to attend. These are students who demonstrate superior academic 

performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad 

context. 

They excel in academic pursuits, demonstrate enthusiasm for intellectual exploration and

have a strong involvement in the lives of their schools and communities.





YOGA CLUB
Students interested in practising yoga and mindfulness on a weekly basis, 


please attend a meeting on Thursday October 4th in Room 201 at lunch. 





TED-ED CLUB
Attention Ted Ed Club members
There will be a TED ED Club meeting this Wednesday, October 3 in room 208.




GIRLS HOCKEY
Attention all girls interested in trying out for the St. Joe's Girls Hockey Team.

There will be a sign up session on Friday October 5th at the beginning of lunch in room 161.

The first practice is Wednesday October 17th. See you at the meeting!





A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE
A debit card was found Monday after lunch.  If this is your card, please go to the Attendance Office to identify it.




STAFF LUNCHEON
This Friday after mass we will celebrate our first luncheon of the year. The price is $8.00 

and all profits will go into our culinary Bursary fund. Check the community website for the menu.




PHOTO RETAKE DAY
Lifetouch will be at the school on Wednesday October 10th for those students who missed having their photo taken.  For students who have lost their student card there is a replacement cost of $5.00. Students requiring a retake on their photo package must return their photo package to the photographer. 




ST. CLAIR COLLEGE INFORMATION PROGRAM

Any gr. 12 students interested in attending the College Information Program at St. Clair 

College on October 15th from 9:30-11:30 please see Ms. Gilbert in the guidance office no

later than Wednesday.  If there is enough interest transportation will be provided free of cost.





POETRY READING
Attention - St. Joseph's Poets
This afternoon, there are four poets visiting our school. They will be speaking to English classes. 

Tonight - There is a poetry reading. These poets will be reading at Willistead Manor. Any student who attends tonight will receive a free poetry book. The event starts at 7 pm.



THE HEALING HEARTS GROUP
The Healing Hearts group is reminded of our meeting today at lunch. We will be meeting in the Chapel.



UNIVERSITY VISIT
This message is for any Gr. 12 students interested in meeting with representatives from Lakehead University.  A recruiter will be in the atrium during lunch today.



WE PROJECT
Attention All Students: There is a meeting for the WE Project/ St. Vincent De Paul Society today at lunch in room 155. Please bring your lunch and join us. New members are always welcome.


THE ROSARY
October is traditionally one of the months in which Catholics honour Mary.  To show our honour for Mary and to grow closer to Christ, let us pray the Rosary more often. Starting today and every Tuesday, the Rosary will be prayed in the chapel at the beginning of lunch. All are welcome.



UNITED WAY
Attention All Staff: United Way pledge forms have been placed in your mailboxes today. Complete the forms with your pledges by December 1, 2018 and return them to Miss Touma in room 155. Please do not leave completed forms with cheques, cash or Credit Card information in Miss Touma's  mailbox. Kindly hand them to her in room 155. Should you have any questions or concerns please see Ms. Touma in room 155.
