Thursday's Announcements

COURSE SELECTIONS Lasers, this is a reminder that your course selections and $50 activity fee are due NO LATER than March 1 (TOMORROW). You must complete and hand-in your co-op applications as well. GRAD FEES This is an important reminder that grad fees are due THIS WEEK. Your homeroom class has been assigned a date to come to the LCC to pay the fee and complete the information form online. Please see the blue info sheet, or the graduation tab on the portal if you have any questions. See Mr. Hind or Ms. Flynn with any additional questions. Considering a call to the Priesthood? If you are considering a call to the Priesthood, St. Peter's Seminary is hosting an event this weekend, March 1-3, in London. The weekend will offer a first-hand experience of the life of a seminarian and a chance to meet current seminarians and faculty. For more information please see Mr. Polewski or Mrs. Walls. SWIM TEAM Congratulations to all of our Laser Swim Team who competed in SWOSSAA yesterday. A special mention goes out to Aiden Ferrone and Mara Pasaciu who will be representing St. Joes at OFSAA in Toronto in March. WRESTLING TEAM An Exciting Wrestling Update: Yesterday at SWOSSAA, the top wrestlers, from all across Southwestern Ontario, competed at Lambton College in Sarnia. Congratulations go out to Bianca Luciani for winning Gold, Raidyn Landry for winning Silver, and Miranda Iacobini and Avril Johnson for winning 4th in each of their weight brackets. We are so proud of their dedication and hard work. TAMPON TUESDAY Attention Lasers! Windsor High Schools have been invited to join in a friendly competition to collect products for an annual fundraiser called Tampon Tuesday. The goal is to collect the most boxes or bags of feminine hygiene products by Thursday, February 28th to support local food banks and shelters. The winning school will receive $500 to donate to the charity of their choice. All donations of feminine hygiene products may be dropped off to Campus Ministry or the Chapel.   A MESSAGE FROM THE TERRY FOX FOUNDATION The 2018 Terry Fox School Run was a great success! JOB OPPORTUNITY  Lasers, there is a terrific job opportunity for those of you who love animals.  Tecumseh Animal Hospital is looking for a student to work two weekends a month as a kennel attendant.  Please see guidance for more information. BLOOD DRIVE DRESS DOWN The dress down day for students who gave blood on last Tuesday will be this Friday, Feb 22. You will receive a dress down pass in your homeroom class, and a list of eligible students will be posted on the door of the literacy office.  AFTER SCHOOL LITERACY PROGRAM This is a reminder to all students who have registered for the   after school   literacy program. After school literacy takes place every Tuesday and Thursday in the LCC from 3-4. Regular attendance at these sessions is crucial to benefit from the program. SOCIAL JUSTICE FORUM @ UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR Attention All Students Planning to attend the Social Justice Forum tomorrow Wednesday February 20th: You must hand in forms and money to Ms. Touma in room 155 during lunch today and pick up parking passes for the University parking lot so you do not have to pay for parking. For those who have already registered online you must see Ms. Touma at Lunch in room 155 to pay your $5.00 and hand in the sheet with your choices for workshops. Students who do not see Ms. Touma at lunch today will not be put on the list to go to the Forum or given parking passes. BACKSTAGE CREW This is a reminder for those students who signed up as members of the backstage crew for the Drama Club, please attend a quick meeting at the beginning of lunch TODAY (Thursday) in the Drama room.  WRESTLING TEAM Each of our wrestlers fought very well yesterday at the WECSSAA tournament, and we are so proud of their efforts. Jon Lariviere and Braeden Breault demonstrated their dedication and valiant effort in some really tough weight brackets. Avril Johnson took fourth place, Miranda Iacobini and Raidan Landry both won silver, and Bianca Luciani won the gold. If you see these athletes in the halls, congratulate them and wish them good luck at SWOSSAA  next week. BLOOD DRIVE We are in need of students to help set up for the blood drive tomorrow. This involves being here by 7:30 am to move tables into the gym. Please see Ms. Flynn today at lunch in the Literacy office in the LCC if you would be interested in helping out for community service hours.  A reminder if you are donating blood tomorrow to eat a good breakfast, wear a short sleeved shirt, and bring GOVERNMENT issued photo ID. GIRLS HOCKEY The girls hockey team played an excellent game at both ends of the ice and shutout the Holy Names Knights by a score of 3-0 in the WECSSAA quarter finals yesterday. Mikahyla Angeles was rock solid in net as always as was the team defence in front of her. Grade 9 Jada Yaldo banged home a rebound to open the scoring in the second period and Grade 10 Hailey Campbell followed suit less than 2 minutes later. Team Captain Camryn Pestru iced the game with a nice solo effort in the third. Next week the girls take on the Villanova Wildcats in the semi finals. Here we go Lasers! SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Congratulations to the Senior Girls volleyball team for their great playing against St Anne s last night! It was our first playoff game; best of 5 games moves on..... Here's what happened: Our team took the first match easily.  Then the lady lasers got rocked in the second set- ouch!  The third set was an even battle, but the saints walked away with the win

PROM CHOCOLATE ROSES FUNDRAISER The Prom Committee will be running their annual chocolate roses sale starting this Wednesday February 6th until next Wednesday February 13th.  Roses will be $2 each and available for purchase at lunch in the atrium  They will be distributed to homeroom classes on valentines day. BLOOD DRIVE This semester's blood drive will take place on Tuesday February 12. If you are 17 years old as of this date, please come and sign up to give the gift of life! NIGHT SCHOOL Lasers, today is the LAST DAY to register for night school courses with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board.  Courses include Fit for Life, Co-op, Computer Programming, Introduction to Computers and Cooking.  If you are interested, please see Ms. Gilbert in the guidance office TODAY.  Attention all grade 11 and 12 students who are looking for post secondary funding: There is a very important information meeting at Brennan this Thursday February 7th from 6:30pm to 8pm.
