Thursday's Announcements

COLLECTING USED UNIFORMS As we approach the end of the year, the collection of used uniforms by the Life Skills Department will begin.  Students will be awarded one exam dress down pass for each piece of uniform donated.  If you donate more than four articles of clothing, it will be greatly appreciated.  Collection of the used uniforms and distribution of exam dress down passes will take place in room 111 beginning on Friday, June 21 until Wednesday, June 26 starting at 8:15 in the morning until 8:45 am.  Exam dress down passes are to be used only on on exam days - Friday through Wednesday. Thank you for your support! BEST BUDDIES Attention all Best Buddies we will be ending the year with a pizza lunch today in the Life Skills Room.  Bring your beverages.  See you then! VOLUNTEER HOURS Do you still need volunteer hours and  have an interest in aircraft and vintage automobiles? FROZEN YOGURT Frozen yogurts are going fast.  Stop by room 111 at lunchtime today to purchase a frozen yogurt for only $1.00.  EVENING OF EXCELLENCE Attention all students helping with evening of excellence, tech team and helpers there will be a brief meeting in room 220 at lunch time tomorrow June 12th.  Please be there to find out what you will be helping with that evening. SCHOLARSHIPS Rebecca Hagos, former student of St Joe's graduated debt free after winning over  1000 000 plus dollars in scholarships.  She is now providing her services as a scholarship coach and will be running one of her work shops this coming Saturday June 15th from 10:30am to noon. HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL CENTER The grade 10s will be taking a trip to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills Michigan on June 11th. We have approximately 20 spaces left. The cost is $30 and permission forms and money will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Please see Miss Donais or Mr. Robillard for the forms. FRENCH IMMERSION HOODIES The French Immersion hoodies are in!!!  If you ordered one, please come to the Conference room at lunch to pick it up! OFSAA TRACK AND FIELD There are roughly 900 high schools, and 700,000 students in Ontario, and the top 24 athletes in each event came together this weekend at the  OFSAA Track & Field.Championships to crown a champion. Getting to OFSAA as an individual athlete is already exceptionally difficult, but doing as well as these athletes did, despite some snafus, is out of this world good!  First up, congratulations goes out to Junior Boys Relay team of Josh Maadi, Daniel Pahuyo, Raffi Lavilla, Levi Johnson

REMINDER FOR BLOOD DONORS ON THURSDAY If you have not done so yet, take the Eligibility Quiz  . Please note the waiting period for tattoos and piercings is now only 3 months! Make sure you have a good meal before coming to donate. Limit yourself to one cup of coffee or tea the day of your donation. Drink LOTS of water the days leading up to and day of your donation and eat a salty snack just before donating ! Monday's Announcements

GIRLS BASKETBALL Attention all girls interested in playing basketball next year. There will be a brief meeting today in the fitness room at lunch. Spread the word.  TRACK AND FIELD Results are in from Ontario’s toughest qualifying track and field event and your Lasers continued their awesome results!!! On Thursday Dmitri Popovic became our first Ofsaa qualifier by finishing 3rd in the ID 100m! Next up Nicole Larue took home the gold in a very hotly contested 1500m race! That paved the way for our junior boys relay team of Levi Johnson, Josh Maadi, Daniel Pahuyo, Raffi Lavilla and Steve Miletic who won the silver!!! On day 2 Dmitri added a 2nd event to his ofsaa dance card by finishing 4th in the 800m race that his teammate Connor McCandless won with a very fast 2:38 time!  Nicole Larue also added a 2nd event to her ofsaa weekend by finishing 3rd in the senior 3K race. Rounding out our  ofsaa qualifiers in the field was Madison Gaudreau who took 2nd in midget girls discus with a
