Monday's Announcements

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Attention all girls interested in playing basketball next year. There will be a brief meeting today in the fitness room at lunch. Spread the word. 


TRACK AND FIELD
Results are in from Ontario’s toughest qualifying track and field event and your Lasers continued their awesome results!!!

On Thursday Dmitri Popovic became our first Ofsaa qualifier by finishing 3rd in the ID 100m! Next up Nicole Larue took home the gold in a very hotly contested 1500m race! That paved the way for our junior boys relay team of Levi Johnson, Josh Maadi, Daniel Pahuyo, Raffi Lavilla and Steve Miletic who won the silver!!! On day 2 Dmitri added a 2nd event to his ofsaa dance card by finishing 4th in the 800m race that his teammate Connor McCandless won with a very fast 2:38 time!  Nicole Larue also added a 2nd event to her ofsaa weekend by finishing 3rd in the senior 3K race. Rounding out our  ofsaa qualifiers in the field was Madison Gaudreau who took 2nd in midget girls discus with a very big throw of 32.57 meters!


Congrats to all of our athletes who competed this weekend! We are very proud of you and you represented yourself and your school very well!!! On to the provincial championships!!! Athletes. There’s a quick meeting at lunch today in the fitness room. 


JUNIOR GIRLS SOCCER

Reminder to junior girls soccer players that you must hand in your soccer uniform to Mrs. Loebach in guidance.


BASEBALL
Attention boys baseball team:

You need to get your jerseys in ASAP.  Names will be submitted to the office tomorrow afternoon. 

And will Jacob Prsa, Riley McLean and Brayden Hoare see Mr. Hind in room 153 right now.  Thank you.



SCHOLARSHIPS
Attention all graduating students:

The Mac Simpson Award is due this Friday. 

This award is given annually to at least one student of African descent who is currently attending a secondary school in the Essex County area and will be commencing post-secondary studies in September 2019 on a full-time basis. Students will be required to provide proof of attendance. The value of this award is worth up to $1 500.

Additional information and applications can be found through the Guidance portal or through the Guidance office.


The Byrne Foundation Bursary is also due this week. 

The Byrne Bursary Foundation was formed to assist local prospective post-secondary students who have limited financial resources due to the death of one or both parents.

GRADE LEVEL SPEECHES
Attention all students running as Grade Level Reps for next year's student council. Speeches will be presented on Wednesday not Thursday. Please note the change in date. Speeches will be presented on Wednesday.



LUNCH BASKETBALL
Attention senior laser lunchballers. Playoff tournament bracket is SET! Schedule is posted outside the phys ed office. Time to crown a CHAMP!!!
Games are Tuesday and Wednesday.


NEW YORK TRIP
There will be a mandatory meeting for all students interested in attending next year's trip to New York today at lunch in room 257.
