OFSAA TRACK AND FIELD
There are roughly 900 high schools, and 700,000 students in Ontario, and the top 24 athletes in each event came together this weekend at the OFSAA Track & Field.Championships to crown a champion.Getting to OFSAA as an individual athlete is already exceptionally difficult, but doing as well as these athletes did, despite some snafus, is out of this world good!
First up, congratulations goes out to Junior Boys Relay team of Josh Maadi, Daniel Pahuyo, Raffi Lavilla, Levi Johnson and Steven Miletic who placed 10th with a new personal best of PB 45.5 seconds..
Next, the infamous crooner turned athlete, Dimitri Popovic placed 16th in both the ID 100m and 800m races.
Then his teammate Connor McCandless placed 13th in the ID 800m.
In the field, newbie Madison Gaudreau came up big with a 5th place finish in the discus throw.
Finally, in what can only be described as 2 incredibly gutsy performances that brought her to the edge of both greatness and exhaustion, our very own Queen of the Track, Nicole LaRue managed a 5th and 7th place finish in the 3000m and 1500m
respectively.
Congratulations to our athletes who competed among the very best athletes in the province! The coaches are really looking forward to next year already!
