Wednesday's Announcements

BLOOD DRIVE
This semester's blood drive is taking place this Friday, Feb 7 in our gym. If you have signed up to donate blood, please remember to bring a government-issued photo ID (driver's license),  to eat a good breakfast the morning of, and to ensure you are well hydrated. If you have not signed up and would like to donate, please see Maya Toma or Ms. Flynn to be given an appointment time. Appointment slips will be distributed in your period 1 class on Friday. Also to all period 1 spare students who have signed up to donate blood, your appointment slips will be in the attendance office. You may pick these up tomorrow after school or Friday morning. 

OPTIMIST CLUB CONTESTS AND OECTA WRITING CONTEST
The Optimist Club has two contests at this time and the deadline is Wed. Feb 5. There is an essay contest (up to 8oo words) and there is an oratorical speech contest (4 to 5 minutes) on the topic "Just iMagine a World without Boundaries." Also, students (in any grade) can submit a poem or story or non-fiction piece or play to the OECTA Young Author's Contest. The deadline is this Friday, Feb. 7. Submit your entries to an English teacher. If you have any questions or need entry forms for these contests, speak to Dr. Brode in room 208.


PEER TUTORING SERVICES
Are you in need of volunteer hours? Grade 11 and 12 students are needed for the new Peer Tutoring Services. Peer tutors will offer academic support during lunch, and in return will receive volunteer hours. If you are interested in becoming a peer tutor and learning more information, please sign up at the table in the atrium at lunch today.

SCOREKEEPERS FOR BOYS HOCKEY
The Senior Boys hockey team is in need of experienced time and scorekeepers for the rest of the season.  Please see Mrs. Greig in CORE services room 151 for more information.

GIRLS HOCKEY
Please dismiss members of the girl's hockey team at 2:30 today for their game at home against Kingsville. Good luck girls!!

STUDENT COUNCIL
There will be a quick student council meeting in room 253 at lunch today. 

GSA
Our GSA is having its first meeting of the semester today! Join them in the chapel at lunch. Everyone is welcome!

CHOIR
Attention singers - This is a reminder that there is a choir practice today, at lunch, upstairs in room 210. Also could Ashley Marchi and Krissalyn Bellavance please see Mr. Morson today, at lunch, in room 210.

DANCE TEAM
A reminder that there is a practice after school for the dance team until 4:15. We are working on our Hip hop Dance.

CONCERT BAND
Attention concert band - Yes, there is a concert band practice tomorrow! Band practice will start promptly at 730am so please be early so you can set up and warm up effectively. SO...band practice tomorrow, promptly at 7:30 in the music room. See you there!!

STJ YOUTH TROOP
There will be a brief but important meeting Thursday, in room 202, for the members of the STJ Youth Troop. 

LASER NEWS
There will be a laser news meeting tomorrow at lunch. The room is TBD. Please listen to the announcements tomorrow for the room number.
