ATTENTION GRADUATES


Now that you've accepted your University or College program, it's time to start thinking about how you're going to pay for it!  Look at the scholarship bulletin board outside of the Guidance office or the Guidance site of the Student Portal for more details.  Several scholarship applications are available. See Mrs. Bon-Pickering ASAP.

SPRING CONCERT

The Spring Concert is next week!!!  Come out to one of the 2 shows.  One show is at 6pm on Wednesday May 23rd and the other is during per. 1 ONLY on Thursday May 24th.  If you ask your teacher politely to go to the Thursday show per. 1, maybe they will let your class attend!!  Both shows are free to students.

Don't miss your chance to catch the Concert Band, who won a SILVER PLUS at MusicFest, as well as soloists Christian Kassa, Christina Apollonio, Taylor McQueen, Hijiri Ozeki, Bailey Chittle, Halleloya Almonseer, Emma Lim and Sophie Brett.  The Spring Concert is NEXT week.  Plan on putting a little SPRING into your step!!!!!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY 

The Optimist Club of Forest Glade will be sponsoring the upcoming Tri-Star Baseball Program which is on Saturday June 9th 2018.  

Students are invited to volunteer their time to assist with their mandatory community service hours plus the additional hours required to complete the leadership course.

Students are asked to arrive at the Forest Glade Community Centre park area by 9:00 in the morning.
Their duties will be to assist the coaches to run events on the baseball diamonds, assisting with the raffles, helping to run the concession stand, operating the popcorn and cotton candy machines, set up and most importantly, clean up.

The day usually ends around 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

Sandy Mcmaster is the chairperson for this event. Please contact him  if you are interested or if you have further questions or concerns.

INDIGENOUS YOUTH CREATIVE WRITING AWARD

The James Bartleman Indigenous Youth Creative Writing Award recognizes up to six Indigenous youth for their creative writing talent.  Creative pieces may include short stories, poems, essays, plays, songs and comic strips, as long as they are the original works created by the student. Recipients will receive a cash award of $2,500 each. Submit your creative writing piece on or before May 31st to ontario.ca/bartleman. See the Literary Laser board next to the elevator upstairs or Mrs. Koppeser for more information.

SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS 


Summer school applications are still available in the Guidance Office.  Please make an appointment with your guidance counsellor.  The deadline of May 31st is quickly approaching.

ATHLETIC BANQUET 


Attention all student athletes: it is almost time to celebrate our year in sport. The Athletics Awards Banquet is being held on Tuesday, June 12th in our cafetorium. All athletes and their families are invited, but tickets are limited. Come enjoy a Mr Soks meal and help us to recognize the excellence in our student athletes. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Phys ed office.
