SKILLED TRADES INFORMATION EVENING
Gr.  11's and 12's, are you interested in exploring the skilled trades?  St. Clair College is hosting a FREE event on Wednesday, April 10 from 5-9 pm.  Dinner is included.  Registration is required for interested participants.  For more information please see the flyer in guidance. 


MARINES
Any young women interested in learning more about the Navy, there will be an information session on April 10 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  The session will take place at HMCS Hunter.  For more information please see the flyer posted in guidance.


MILITARY CO-OP
Attention Students:
The Military Co Operative education program may be available to you.
This co-op program will offer you:

·         4 Afternoon high school credits

·         $45.15 per afternoon

·         Military Qualifications

·         A guaranteed job in Canada's Army Reserve after your placement

The Aim of this program is to introduce you to the diverse career opportunities in the Canadian Armed Forces while providing a challenging and rewarding experience that will benefit you for years to come.

Recruiters will be at your school April 15 at 12:15 PM for an information session to discuss more on the program. Please go to Guidance to sign up for this presentation.


ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL AWARDS
Each year, St. Joe’s is proud to offer over 20 scholarships and bursaries to our graduating students donated by friends and sponsors of our school.

A committee of staff members and parents will select the winners and announce the names at graduation.

This year's requests for applications will be available in the guidance office Tuesday April 9th to April 23rd.


You’re eligible for these awards if you:

·         are a graduating student who will be in college or university in September of 2019

·         have a pretty solid academic record and

·         have been involved in the life of the school and the community.


The deadline for submission of a hard copy of the completed application into the Guidance office is: 3pm, Thursday April 25th, 2019.

Unfortunately, late applications will not be considered.



PROM TICKET SALES
Attention Grade 12 Lasers: 

The Prom Committee cordially invites you to the Starry Night Prom at the Caboto Club on May 3rd 2019

Tickets for 70 dollars will be sold in the laser box on April 16,17,23,24,25 

Contracts will be handed at the Grad Assembly on April 9th

WE PROJECT
They will be selling dress down passes for $1.00 in the atrium at lunch on Wednesday, April 10; Thursday, April 11 and Friday morning, April 12 before classes start at 8:15 am to 8:45 am. Students will be given their dress down passes once they purchase them in the atrium at lunch. The dress down day will be Friday April 12. 


SAC MEETING
A reminder to all Student Council Members of our meeting today, at lunch time, in room 154.


VALEDICTORIAN NOMINEES
This is a reminder to valedictorian nominees to meet in the Literacy office in the LCC for speech filming on Wednesday at lunch.

DOMINIC GYURASZ SCHOLARSHIP
There is a new scholarship exclusively for students of St Joseph's High School!

This scholarship is named in honour of Dominic Gyurasz as a tribute to his determination and perseverance. His kind and gentle presence taught everyone both strength and humility while his radiant smile brought great love and joy to all those he met.

Special consideration will be given to students who are graduates of the Learning Support Programme or those pursuing a career relating to students and exceptionalities   

Please note that applications must be submitted to the guidance office by 3 pm, Tuesday April 30, 2019.

MR. BARRON'S MEETINGS
Greetings lasers
Some important meetings going on this week with Spring Fever in full swing

Wednesday at lunch will be our United Fandoms meeting regarding a possible entry into the Annual Laser Lip Sync - come by room 217 at lunch, especially if you are a fan of Stranger Things


Thursday after school will be the first meeting of this semesters Environmental club regarding refurbishing Mothers Day gifts and tending the indigenous garden - meet in room 217 after school on Thursday to collect some volunteer hours with this club


WE PROJECT
Attention All Students: There is a meeting for the WE Project today at lunch in room 155. Please bring your lunch and join us. New members are always welcome.


FIELD TRIP WITH MS. GREIG
For those students going on the field trip with Mrs. Greig please drop off your permission form ASAP as a list of participants need to be sent in by this afternoon.


BADMINTON

Congratulations go out to the Junior Badminton team for their hard work at the City Championships yesterday.
A special mention goes out to Trevor Helsop and Eva Arnini for winning the silver medal in mixed doubles, and Anthony Ivanovski & Frosina Filiposki, Eric Winch & Gavin Pawluk, and Camilla Ayala-Osiris & Jane Buckingham for all placing 4th and moving on to WECSSAA next week.
Great job team.
Practice is at 6pm tonight.
