SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Loran Scholarship foundation has recently released it annual scholarships and applications. They are looking for future undergraduate students who are well rounded and demonstrate character, the promise of leadership and a strong commitment to service in the community. For further requirements please consult the guidance portal or the display in front of guidance.
Please note that for this scholarship there is a nomination process so please go and see Miss Cuderman in guidance for more information on the nomination process.  Nominations from a school are due well before October 17th. 


A MESSAGE FROM GUIDANCE
Gr. 12's -  this is a reminder to please sign up to receive Remind messages as soon as possible.  These instructions can be found on the guidance windows and around the cafeteria.  Guidance would like to begin sending out information to you by Monday.  Also, St. Clair College will be here during Period 1 on Monday in the Cafetorium.  All gr. 12 classes are asked to attend.


LITERARY LASERS
Those writers in the school, check out the bulletin board next to the elevator on the second floor. There are writing contests for poetry, stories and essays as well as info about workshops, courses and student exchanges. Once again, the Literary lasers board is upstairs next to the elevator.


ST. JOSEPH'S POETS
There is a Poetry Reading next Tuesday evening at Willistead Manor. Several poets will be reading their poems including Mr. Robillard. Any students who attend that night from 7 to 9 pm on October 2 will receive a free poetry book.


CROSS COUNTRY
Nicole LaRue had a THRILLING 1st place finish at yesterday's "Thrill on the Hill" meet at Malden Park in the Senior Girls division, running 6km in just over 22 minutes.

 As a team, the Senior Boys, comprised of Domenyk Dinunzio, Jordon Goulet, Mateo Aleksic, Ezra Fogal, Isaac Gagnier, Adam Mcdonald, Simon Edmonson, Matt Tonkin, Brian Tonkin, and Owen Querin finished in a VERY impressive second place!! 

Individually, Ezra Fogal placed 8th in the Senior Boys division, running the 6K in just over 21 minutes, with Domenyk Dinunzio close behind in the top 20 finishers. 

Jane Buckingham, in her first high school cross country competition, placed 14th, finishing the 4K race in just over 17 minutes! 

Marino Aleksic, also in his first high school competition, placed 13th, running the 4k race in just over 15 minutes! 

Congratulations to the entire team for your enthusiastic and dedicated representation of St. Joe's.  We wish the training campers luck and safe travels this weekend, and are looking forward to great things at WECSSAA!


BOYS HOCKEY
The coaching staff for boys hockey is looking for volunteers to keep score during games this season. You will receive 1.5 hours of community service for each game plus a lunch from Mr. Sok's. Please see Mr. Sok's in room 160 or Ms. Greig in Spec. Ed.
Attention tennis fans and players. There will be another practice tonight after school Friday at 3:30 PM. Be sure to attend and get practice in before our tournament next Tuesday.
