LASER HOOPS

The Senior boys basketball team fought extremely hard in their rival game against Riverside highschool yesterday.

The game was a constant battle and neither of the teams could pull a lead which forced them to go to overtime.

In overtime both teams fought hard but due to our limited roster the fatigue was really starting to show.

The Rebels hit a couple clutch 3s to give them a 3 point lead going into the last 17 seconds of overtime, it was down to the wire and Gr 11 forward Thomas Kennedy showed up by hitting a clutch 3 to tie the game once more and force the game to go to double overtime.

Both teams still struggled to get on a run and the rebels had a 2pt lead and had the position of the ball with 10 seconds to go in the game when there was a controversial call when Johnathan Helou stole the ball and was running full steam to the basket with no one near him.

The refs blew the whistle before John could make it to the basket and charged him with a reach in foul which unfortunately was his 5th foul of the game and forced him to watch the last 10 seconds of the game from the bench.

St Joes ended up losing by 2pts but fought extremely hard till the end and put on a great show for the fans.

Come out tonight and support our senior boys as they play in their 1st playoff qualifying game against Sandwich high school at 4 pm in the Laserdome!!

Go get 'em Lasers!!
