TRACK AND FIELD
There will be a track and field meeting today for those going off to OFSAA regionals in the Fitness Center. Please get there as soon as possible. 

OTAKU
Before the madness of June arrives and all the stress of exams ... OTAKU fans are invited to an event in the LCC afterschool THIS friday - the United Fandom club will be hosting an Asian flavoured event with presentations and trivia on all that is  MANGA and ANIME - lots of OTAKU prizes can be won and good arguments to be had over the plot points of classic works by Studio Ghibli, Naruto, full metal alchemist, fairy tail, Kpop and much more. This is a FREE event and all OTAKU fans are welcome in the LCC after school May 31st

SENIOR BOYS SOCCER
Your Senior Boys Soccer team made it a memorable winning the 2019 SWOSSAA Final against UCC by a score of 4-to-2. Scoring for the Lasers were Mateo Aleksic, Brandon Mucollari with two, and Michael Zivcic. A great defensive game was played by Adam McDonald. The team greatly appreciates the the Grade 12 students and staff member who traveled to Chatham to show your support. Players do not forget there will be a meeting tomorrow at lunch in room 153 to discuss OFSAA details.


NEW YORK CITY TRIP
Have you ever dreamed of visiting New York City, one of the most exciting destinations in the world?
Picture it... Times Square, known for its many Broadway theatres and electronic billboards.
Take in a breathtaking 360-degree view of NYC from Top of the Rock Observation Deck
Spend the afternoon in Central Park a 843-acre park  located in the center of Manhattan
Visit the September 11 Memorial commemorating the victims of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
Let history come alive as you pass the Statue of Liberty aboard the Staten Island Ferry
These are just a few of the things that make New York the city that never sleeps.
Now you have the opportunity to visit the Big Apple next May, 2020. The trip is open to students in grades 10 through 12.
An information meeting for parents will take place tonight at 6pm in room 257. Students and parents are encouraged to attend as space for the trip is limited.

15TH ANNUAL BLACK BUTTERFLY AND BLACK MONARCH GRADUATION CELEBRATION
This year's Black Butterfly and Black Monarch Graduation Celebration will be on Saturday June 15th. This event is open to all secondary school graduates of African descent and is free for the grade 12 graduate and one guest. Additional guests can obtain a ticket for only $25! This event includes free prizes as well as special guest speakers.
To sign up and receive additional information, come to the guidance office sometime before June Friday June 7th.


TED-ED CLUB
There is a TED Ed Club meeting TODAY in room 208. Once again, TED Ed Club meeting today at lunch. Bring a written copy or printed copy of your Ted Talk.  

LASALLE NEEDS PEOPLE TO CLEAN STRAWBERRIES!
Lasalle's annual Strawberry festival organizers are looking for volunteers to give an hour or two to help cut and clean about 300 flats of strawberries.
Volunteers are needed to clean strawberries on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the LaSalle Fire Hall on Normandy Street. 


URGENT - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SUMMER CAMP

Are you looking for experience working with children with special needs?
If so, the John McGivney Children's Centre is looking for volunteers for their Summer Camps.
The camp is for children aged 6-18 years old who have physical/developmental disabilities.  There are 3 different summer camp sessions, with each running in 2 week blocks .
You can select as to which blocks you would like to volunteer for over the summer break.
Additional information including volunteer job description as well as contacts can be found on the counter under the display on our volunteer bulletin board in Guidance.
This is an excellent opportunity to get in those 40 hours of volunteer work!
