What is all the BUZZ about in our English classes this April?

The English department is hosting its sixth annual Spelling Bee Championships during Education Week on May 4th.

All Grade 9 and 10 students are competing in bees in their English classes this semester to qualify for the finals.

If you are in Grade 9 or 10, and not taking English this semester, but would like to participate in the Spelling Bee, please see Mrs. Koppeser by no later than next Wednesday, April 26th to sign up.

Good luck to all our spellers!

OPTIMIST ESSAY CONTEST

St. Joe's has a lot to be optimistic about with our Lasers taking first, second AND third place in the Optimist essay contest.

The theme of this year's essay contest was "Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges". Congratulations to Kylie Savage on her first place finish,

Staecey Ngabire for placing second and Savannah Jovanovski for placing third.  The judges would also like to recognize Semera Riccardi for her entry.

Staecey Ngabire and Larissa Dushime are also in the final rounds of their respective public speaking contests for the Optimist Club and Canadian Legion.

Good luck, ladies!

PRAISE TEAM

Just a reminder to members of the Praise Team and all those wishing to sing at our upcoming mass.

Today at lunch, please meet Mrs. Dietrich in the chapel.  She would like to go over the music for this mass and would also like to know who is willing to do a solo performance at the mass.

Even if you can not stay for the entire rehearsal, please stop in to let Mrs. Dietrich know that you will be participating in the mass.

Besides today's rehearsal, there will also be rehearsals in the chapel on Wednesday and Friday at lunch this week.
