Wednesday's Announcements

COURSE SELECTIONS
Guidance will be in the learning commons at lunch today to assist with course selection.  Any students who make appointments in guidance today will not be seen until Friday, at the earliest.  Please do not let this stop you from choosing your courses.  If they are not completed by Friday morning, they are considered late.

VALEDICTORIAN
This reminder is for all students who are graduating this year. If you are interested in being class valedictorian, please log on to Google Classroom and submit the nomination form by Friday, March 27th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Flynn or Mr. Hind.

UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR OPEN HOUSE
The University of  Windsor Open House will be March 7 from 10 am -4 pm.  Please register online to attend. The schedule is also posted online, so you can choose which departments you would like to visit and when.  

TAMPON TUESDAY
Attention Lasers! This is a reminder that we are in a friendly competition with Brennan High School to collect products for Tampon Tuesday. The goal is to collect the most feminine hygiene products by Tuesday, March 10 to support local food banks and shelters. All donations of feminine hygiene products may be dropped off to Campus Ministry or the Chapel. Also, any staff members wishing to donate money for tampon Tuesday can see either Mr. Nohra or Mrs. Isabella by Friday to donate

BATTERY DRIVE
The Upcycled Climate Club will be collecting old batteries and old electronics in the atrium at lunch until March 13th. Ask your parents, friends, or even neighbours if they have any batteries/electronics that they would like to hand in to be properly recycled! Thank you in advance!

SPRING MUSKOKA TRIP
Attention all Gr 11 and 12 Leadership students. It's time to begin the application process for the upcoming Spring Muskoka Woods trip. Information is posted on the Leadership board outside the PE office. The application is online and can be accessed through a barcode scan or bit.ly address. Trip dates are April 24th through the 28th. All other relevant details are on the application.

NEW YORK TRIP
Attention New York travellers. Your consent forms and pizza money are due no later than Friday. Also, your final deposit is due March 7th.

MARCH MADNESS
The Optimist Club of Forest Glade is inviting students to volunteer some of their time during the week to assist with their mandatory community service hours and the additional hours required to complete the leadership PHE programming. This year’s March Madness Program will run from Monday, March 16th to Friday, March 20th. Volunteers need to show up at least a half-hour ahead of time to allow them to be greeted and placed in a position or at a station. For further information and arrangement of volunteer times, call Barbara Matis at home, 519-979-6118, or email bmatis@mnsi.net. Additional information can be found through the Volunteer Icon on the St Joeseph's Portal


BE A GEM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The  Be a GEM Foundation Scholarship Fund is for grade twelve students who have dedicated their time to community service, academic involvement, and/or leadership ability to direct and inspire others. A variety of scholarships are available valued at $5000 to $1000 dollars. This scholarship is due no later than March 31st and applications can be found at  http://www.beagem.org/scholarship-fund.html  or under March Scholarships through the Guidance icon on your St Joseph's Portal. Hard copies of the application can also be picked up in guidance if needed but see Miss Cuderman well before the due date for the hard copy.

STAFF PRAYER SERVICE
All Staff Members are invited to attend our Prayer Service, after school today, in the Chapel.

STAFF LUNCHEON
This Friday the hospitality class will be preparing our monthly luncheon which will be held in the staff room. The price of our buffet is $8.00. You can find the items available on the community site. We try to accommodate everyone with this menu and we hope the whole staff can come down and enjoy everyone's company. We will have take out containers for those who which to purchase food to bring home for a donation to the hospitality program. Also next Tuesday, March 10 our dining lounge in room 160 will open for those who do not have time to prepare lunch for themselves. Our menu will be posted every day Tuesday to Friday depending on our schedule.

SENIOR GIRLS SOCCER
A reminder to all students trying out for the senior girl's soccer team that today's practise will be held outdoors. Please dress appropriately!

SENIOR BOYS SOCCER
Senior Boys Soccer tryouts will continue immediately after school on the backfield today. These will be outdoor tryouts, please arrive with the appropriate attire and on time to begin at 3:05 PM. If you have any concerns please see Mr. Castagna in CORE Services.

LITERACY CLUB
Attention all grade 10 and 11 students: The Literacy Club will be taking place today after school from 3pm-4pm in Room 161. Snacks will be provided and make sure to bring a friend! Again, that’s today and tomorrow after school from 3pm-4pm in Room 161.

DEBATE TEAM AND TRIVIA TEAM
There will be a meeting for both the debate team and the trivia team today at lunch in room 255.
