FUN IN THE SUN SPIRIT WEEK
Hey Lasers! This is just a reminder that tomorrow's theme for Spirit Week is Spring Colours Grade Wars with uniform bottoms:
Grade 9: green 
Grade 10: yellow
Grade 11: blue
Grade 12: red/pink

VALEDICTORIAN
This reminder is for all students who are graduating this year. If you are interested in being class valedictorian, please log on to Google Classroom and submit the nomination form by Friday, March 27th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Flynn or Mr. Hind.


TAMPON TUESDAY
Tomorrow is Tampon Tuesday. All donations of women's hygiene products are due by tomorrow morning. Please drop them off to the Chapel or Campus Ministry. Let's go Lasers! We want to bring in more donations than Brennan and beat them in this friendly competition. Please bring in your donations tomorrow.


BATTERY DRIVE
The Upcycled Climate Club will be collecting old batteries and old electronics in the atrium at lunch until March 13th. Ask your parents, friends, or even neighbours if they have any batteries/electronics that they would like to hand in to be properly recycled! Thank you in advance!

COR RETREAT

Attention all Gr. 10, 11 and 12 Students, do you need a break from the busyness of life? Do you want an opportunity to discover who you are and who you're meant to be? If so, a COR Retreat weekend may be what you need! The next COR is being held Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Essex. Pick up an application on the wall, outside of Campus Ministry or see Mrs. Walls for online registration.


MARCH MADNESS
The Optimist Club of Forest Glade is inviting students to volunteer some of their time during the week to assist with their mandatory community service hours and the additional hours required to complete the leadership PHE programming. This year’s March Madness Program will run from Monday, March 16th to Friday, March 20th. Volunteers need to show up at least a half-hour ahead of time to allow them to be greeted and placed in a position or at a station. For further information and arrangement of volunteer times, call Barbara Matis at home, 519-979-6118, or email bmatis@mnsi.net. MARCH BREAK BLOOD DRIVE
Attention students 17 and older: Canadian blood services needs you (and your blood!). Please consider going into their donation centre over March break, located at 3909 Grand Marais East, to give the gift of life.

BE A GEM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The  Be a GEM Foundation Scholarship Fund is for grade twelve students who have dedicated their time to community service, academic involvement, and/or leadership ability to direct and inspire others. A variety of scholarships are available valued at $5000 to $1000 dollars. This scholarship is due no later than March 31st and applications can be found at  http://www.beagem.org/scholarship-fund.html or under March Scholarships through the Guidance icon on your St Joseph's Portal. Hard copies of the application can also be picked up in guidance if needed but see Miss Cuderman well before the due date for the hard copy.


GET SKILLED
Interested in exploring the trades? St. Clair College will be hosting a "Get Skilled - Career Night" on Wednesday, April 8 from 5PM-8PM.  This is a free event for students and their parents to explore the opportunities available in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and the service industry.  To register, please see the information posted in guidance.

SENIOR BOYS SOCCER

Reminder to all members of the Senior Boys Soccer team that there will be a brief meeting today at lunch in room 153. Also, staff, please dismiss members of the Senior Boys soccer team today at 2:00 PM.

JUNIOR BOYS HOCKEY
There is a sign up sheet outside of room 160 for all grade 9 and 10 hockey players wishing to play for St. Joe's. There will be 2 tryouts which will cost players $10 per tryout. This will take place at the end of March and the tournament will be April 7 and 8.


SENIOR BOYS HOCKEY
Attention all players who have played for the senior boys team at some point this year. Please see Ms. Grieg if you have not paid your league fees. This must be done ASAP or the Hammer will come down on players who wish to prolong these fees. Once all fees are paid we will have our end of the year luncheon, so gedee up !

STAFF DINING LOUNGE

St. Joe's staff dining lounge in room 160 will open Tuesday and reopen Thursday and Friday this week. Our menu is posted on the community website.


LASER DESIGN
A quick shout out to the 3 tech design students who spent their Saturday designing and drawing at St. Clair College's Skills Competition. Well done Basma, Nicole and Valentina who took home 3rd place. Photos can be viewed @stj_laserdesignstudio on Instagram.

WE PROJECT

There will not be a meeting today for WE Project today.  We will begin meeting again after the March Break. Enjoy the last week of classes and enjoy your March Break!


DRAMA CLUB
Grade 12 students, Isabella Gallucci and Portia Piasentin have directed plays for this year's Drama Fest, formally known as Sears Fest. Portia's "I Dream Before I Take the Stand" will be performed tonight at 6pm and Isabella's "Not Merely an Emotion" will be at 7pm. Both plays will be performed at E.J. Lajeunesse. The cost for students is $5 and for adults $10. If you can, come out to support these amazing plays! Good luck to all the students involved!

LITERACY CLUB

Attention all Grade 10 and 11 students: The Literacy Club will take place tomorrow and Thursday in Room 161 from 3pm until 4pm. Make sure to bring a friend! Snacks will be provided. Looking forward to another great turnout! Again, that's tomorrow and Thursday in Room 161 from 3pm-4pm. See you then!

PEER TUTORING
Peer tutoring is available to anyone who needs extra help with homework in any subject. Peer tutors will be in the Conference Room beside the attendance office at lunch today. Every time you attend a tutoring session you get a chance to win a gift card of your choice.
