LASER GOLF

On Monday of this week, two of your fellow Lasers took part in the annual SWOSSAA Golf championship held in Blenheim.

Alek Mauro and Shawn Sehra, both grade 9 students, competed on behalf of your school for a spot in OFSAA.

The challenge was tough as there were only 2 spots available to go to the OFSAA Championship Tournament, and there were 68 golfers competing.

At the end of 18 holes, four golfers were tied for first among the individual competitors. Alek and Shawn were among the golfers.

This meant that the 4 golfers had to go into a sudden death playoff to determine the 2 OFSAA qualifiers.

It took only 1 playoff hole, as Shawn and Alek both birdied the hole and took the individual spots in OFSAA next week.

Let's wish them luck as they travel to Port Elgin to compete in the Provincial championships held at Saugeen Shores.

This is an incredible achievement as it is an open format which meant that they had to beat all golfers from grades 9 through 12.

Follow their progress on the OFSAA Golf website next week.

Way to go Shawn and Alek!

DETENTIONS

Detentions will be held today at lunch in room 261 at 11:40
