ANNOUNCEMENTS


LORAN SCHOLARSHIPS

The Loran Scholars Foundation is now accepting applicants

There is no limit to the number of applicants from a single school and students are invited to apply on their own. 

Eligibility:

clearly demonstrate character, service and leadership

a minimum cumulative average of 85%

hold a Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status

going to one of the Universities participating in this scholarship.

Deadline for applications is October 12, 2022, before 8:00PM (Eastern Time)



TORONTO NATIONAL BOOK AWARD

The Toronto National Book award application is now available to all students going to any University for the 2023-2024 school year.

All students who intend to apply to any University are eligible for this award. Award recipients receive a National Book Award recognizing their achievements, and as a symbol of their academic potential.

If you are interested in the U of T book award, please complete the google form that is found in the Grade 12 google classroom

The form will close Friday, September 30th at 9am.

HONOURS RECOGNITION CEREMONY

Please return the bottom portion of your invitation to the main office in the drop box. You are only allowed to bring two people to the ceremony. The deadline is Monday, October 3rd.


DANCE TEAM

There will be an INFORMATION meeting during lunch in the Drama Room on Friday Sept 30th for anyone interested in trying out for this year's Dance Team!! 


CHOIR

 Attention Lasers - This is a reminder that there is still a choir practice tonight, and if there is anyone out there who thinks that they'd like to join, there's still room! Please come to the Music Room right after school!


KARAOKE FRIDAYS

It's back, and back on Friday! KARAOKE DAY returns tomorrow, Friday, at lunch, in the Music Room. Come and get your Star on! Everyone is welcomed! See you there!


HOCKEY TEAM

Any boys interested in trying out for the hockey team this year should fill out the google form that was emailed by Ms. Greig.


SWIM TEAM

SWIM SEASON IS APPROACHING! SO, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING THE SWIM TEAM THIS YEAR, PLEASE SCAN THE QR CODE THAT IS LOCATED OUTSIDE THE PHYS-ED OFFICE. 


CROSS COUNTRY

The St. Joe's cross country team competed at the "Thrill on the Hill" meet at Malden Park on Wednesday. The team ran very well on a very tough course.Top finishers include:

Kaitlyn Gravelle (15th), Sydney Burrell (18th), Adrian Borrelli (9th), Eamon Palamides (13th) and Kade Campbell (6th)

Congrats to all runners. 


JR. GIRLS BASKETBALL

On Tuesday, our Junior girls basketball defeated the Villanova Wildcats 51 to 24. Kyari Crouse-Nelson contributed 22 points for our first home game! Tonight the girls take on the Holy Names Knights.


GIRLS BASKETBALL

It's GAME DAY Lasers!!! Come on down to the Laser Dome at 4 to watch the senior Lasers basketball team take on Holy Names and stay for 5:30 to watch the Laser juniors. Should be exciting!!!


BOYS VOLLEYBALL

It’s gameday! Come out to Holy Names at 4:00 to support your Sr. Boys Volleyball team and at 5:20 for the Jrs. to watch them take on the Knights.


FOOTBALL TEAM

The boys football team has their first game tonight at 7:30 against NorthStar High school. If you see someone wearing a jersey today, make sure to wish them luck!

LASER NEWS ANNOUNCEMENTS CAN DRIVE DRESSDOWN Attention lasers! The STJustice Club would like to thank you for your outstanding participation and generosity in this year’s AM800 can drive, bringing the win with the most donations in all of Windsor-Essex. As promised, there will be a full dress down this Wednesday, January 18th.   DANCE TEAM A reminder to the dance team that we have a morning practice TOMORROW Jan 17th. WRESTLING TEAM The Laser Wrestling Team travelled to Sarnia to compete last Saturday. Bringing home Gold medals were Jaclyn Lacoboni and Daniel Piccolo, Silver medals were Joy Uchenna and David Ferro, and a Bronze medal was Evan Fransen. Anthony Mailloux took fourth place. Everyone fought well and fought hard. Despite his injury, Max Thibault demonstrated great composure and class, and showed everyone the fierce spirit of our school. If you see any of our wrestlers in the hallway, congratulate them and perhaps come out to support them at the next tournament this Saturday

 LASER NEWS ANNOUNCEMENTS QUEBEC TRIP Everyone who is going on the Quebec Trip, we will be having a meeting TOMORROW at lunch in room 203.  NEW YORK TRIP There will be a mandatory meeting for all those attending the New York trip tomorrow at lunch in room 261. Please bring your fundraiser order forms and money.  DRAMA SWAG  St. Joes Drama Community. Today is the last day to submit your money for this round of Drama t-shirt and hoodie orders. Please have your money in to the main office by the end of lunch today and make sure your order has been placed on our Google Classroom. Orders will go in today and are expected to arrive within a week.
