Friday's Announcements

GIRLS HOCKEY
The girls hockey team played an excellent game at both ends of the ice and shutout the Holy Names Knights by a score of 3-0 in the WECSSAA quarter finals yesterday. Mikahyla Angeles was rock solid in net as always as was the team defence in front of her. Grade 9 Jada Yaldo banged home a rebound to open the scoring in the second period and Grade 10 Hailey Campbell followed suit less than 2 minutes later. Team Captain Camryn Pestru iced the game with a nice solo effort in the third. Next week the girls take on the Villanova Wildcats in the semi finals. Here we go Lasers!

SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the Senior Girls volleyball team for their great playing against St Anne s last night! It was our first playoff game; best of 5 games moves on.....

Here's what happened:
Our team took the first match easily.

Then the lady lasers got rocked in the second set- ouch!

The third set was an even battle, but the saints walked away with the win.

In the fourth set we came back several times to take the lead, but just couldn't hold on. The senior girls season ended with a hard fought battle. Congratulations to everyone on the team for a great season.
Special mention goes out to Karina Hostrawser for going up against a monster player and she never backed down! Also, our setters, Sophia Guernaccia and Alexis Stewart, for keeping us alive by saving the ball all night long! Lastly, thanks for the great power hits all season Megan Hunt- who also deserves a special congratulations for making the All Star Team: 1st Team!! Way to go Megan!

Following the game, coaches met to discuss league all stars and Mr. Gebrael is happy to announce that 3 grade 11s were recognized. Congratulations to Liam Gilbert and Brayden Walls for recieving honourable mention and Gabe Rosate for earning 2nd team honors. BOYS HOCKEY
The coaching staff would like to thank the boys for a hard fought game yesterday against a very lucky Holy Names team. We fell 4-3, our goal scorers were Daniel Richards, Ethan Muxlow and Matteo Santarossa. All players who have not finished paying their team fees please see Ms. Greig ASAP. Your team luncheon will not happen unless fees are payed and school jerseys and socks are washed and returned. If you don't have a washing machine at home or are to lazy to ask your parents to wash them, then we have a machine at the school. After next Thursday, Valentines day a list will go to the V.P. for outstanding jerseys and fees and then Mr Kittl can be your Valentine.

The junior tournament will take place after literacy test in March and a sign up sheet will be posted outside of room 160 the last week of February. There will also be an announcement.
Again Ms. Greig and the coaching staff would like to to thank the boys for a great season which included a Catholic Cup victory.
