Please check your mytools2go account for information about an upcoming FIrst aid/CPR mandatory certification. WRESTLING TEAM This week was the final competition for our wrestling season. Bianca Luciani and Raidyn Landry went to compete in Ottawa at OFSAA, the highest level of competition for high school level sports, with the best high school wrestlers from all across Ontario. It was an extremely challenging experience, and Bianca won fourth place for her weight bracket, a phenomenal achievement for a first year wrestler. SWIM TEAM Congratulations to Mara Pascariu and Aiden Ferrone who participated in OFSSA Swimming this week. They competed against 40 of the top swimmers in Ontario for their events. While they did not place in the top 3, they did their best and we are proud of them. We are looking forward to seeing them compete next year.  AFTER SCHOOL LITERACY After school literacy runs from 3-4 in the LCC today. LITERACY TEST This is a reminder that the after school literacy course will continue this Thursday. There will be no sessions during March break, but sessions will resume the week after. We have only four sessions remaining before the test. Remember that your attendance is essential to benefit from the program.  Attention grade 10 students- if you would like to complete a practice literacy test for some feedback before the test on March 27, hard copies are located in an envelope just outside of Ms. Flynn's office in the LCC. POETRY IN VOICE A big congratulations goes out to our three poets who competed at the Southwest Ontario regional team finals in Kitchener on Friday. Going up against local schools such as Cardinal Carter and Assumption, St. Joseph’s earned a coveted second place showing among a field of 18 regional poets who memorized and presented poems for Poetry in Voice. Contestants were from as far afield as London and Kitchener.  Congratulations to Keagan Yap, Jennifer Costea and Halleloyah Almansoor for their dedication to the craft of poetry and for making their chosen poems part of their own distinct personalities. Your presentations were simply breath taking. You have done St. Joseph’s proud with your love of the word and for your tireless dedication.  Thanks also goes out to our contingent of well-wishers and poetry supporters who traveled to Kitchener for the event. SENIOR BOYS SOCCER Attention to any students interested in trying-out for this year's Senior Boys Soccer team; sign-up will occur immediately after school in the library on Tuesday, March 5. If there are any concerns please see Mr. Castagna. COPA DI RAYO Congratulations to L-B-F-C and the other team which defeated Returning Champs FC to qualify for the Copa Di Rayo Finals. SWIM TEAM Congratulations to all of our Laser Swim Team who competed in SWOSSAA yesterday. A special mention goes out to Aiden Ferrone and Mara Pasaciu who will be representing St. Joes at OFSAA in Toronto in March. WRESTLING TEAM An Exciting Wrestling Update: Yesterday at SWOSSAA, the top wrestlers, from all across Southwestern Ontario, competed at Lambton College in Sarnia. Congratulations go out to Bianca Luciani for winning Gold, Raidyn Landry for winning Silver, and Miranda Iacobini and Avril Johnson for winning 4th in each of their weight brackets. We are so proud of their dedication and hard work. TAMPON TUESDAY Attention Lasers! Windsor High Schools have been invited to join in a friendly competition to collect products for an annual fundraiser called Tampon Tuesday. The goal is to collect the most boxes or bags of feminine hygiene products by Thursday, February 28th to support local food banks and shelters. The winning school will receive $500 to donate to the charity of their choice. All donations of feminine hygiene products may be dropped off to Campus Ministry or the Chapel.   A MESSAGE FROM THE TERRY FOX FOUNDATION The 2018 Terry Fox School Run was a great success! JOB OPPORTUNITY  Lasers, there is a terrific job opportunity for those of you who love animals.  Tecumseh Animal Hospital is looking for a student to work two weekends a month as a kennel attendant.  Please see guidance for more information. BLOOD DRIVE DRESS DOWN The dress down day for students who gave blood on last Tuesday will be this Friday, Feb 22. You will receive a dress down pass in your homeroom class, and a list of eligible students will be posted on the door of the literacy office.  AFTER SCHOOL LITERACY PROGRAM This is a reminder to all students who have registered for the   after school   literacy program. After school literacy takes place every Tuesday and Thursday in the LCC from 3-4. Regular attendance at these sessions is crucial to benefit from the program.
