SEMI FORMAL

Hi Lasers! As we know semi formal was last Friday and it was an absolute blast! On behalf of student council we wanted to thank everyone who bought tickets and made the party possible! Head to our instagram @stjlasernews and DM us your best pictures and videos from the night for a chance to be featured on the Instagram page or yearbook! Thanks everyone, we’re so excited to see your pictures and videos! 


NTS DRAMA FESTIVAL

There will be a meeting on Monday for anyone wishing to work backstage for the St. Joes' NTS Drama Festival entry. Please meet in front of the stage after school. All cast is also expected to attend. Please let the directors know if you cannot. 


OSSLT PREP

Attention all writers- tomorrow is finally test day! We will be hosting our final Lunch n Learn session in Room 262 today. Come by and get some test taking tips so you can be well on your way to success.


DIASPORA CLUB

The Diaspora Club will be meeting in Room 218 today at lunch. Please be sure to be on time so we can finalize everything for Friday’s field trip!


LAZER FOOTBALL

This past Saturday the Lasers Football team faced Cardinal Carter once again in the Nantais Bowl game at St. Clair. The team battled the severe wind and subzero temperatures to come out on top with a 25- 14 victory in their final game! Quarterback Steven Elford led the team with two touchdowns. Linebacker Nathan Carvallo had one rushing TD and several impactful stops on defence, including a fumble recovery and delivery to the other team. Finally, the player of the game Skylar Mattai led the team in rush yards while also being a pivotal piece to the Lasers win, adding a score of his own. The team would like to recognize the support shown by students and teachers that attended the game and stuck it out in the extreme weather! Congratulations boys on the great season and giving the retiring lasers something to be proud of! Coach Melo, Valentine, Hickson and Wilson are so impressed and can’t wait to see the returning players next season!


BOYS HOCKEY

Thank you to all of the boys who attended the hockey tryouts last week.  The list of the players who are invited back to the second round of tryouts is posted outside of CORE Services.  The next tryout is Tuesday November 22 at 3:30 at WFCU in the AM 800 rink.  Please drop your $10 off to CORE services in order to get a bib.

LASER NEWS ANNOUNCEMENTS CAN DRIVE DRESSDOWN Attention lasers! The STJustice Club would like to thank you for your outstanding participation and generosity in this year’s AM800 can drive, bringing the win with the most donations in all of Windsor-Essex. As promised, there will be a full dress down this Wednesday, January 18th.   DANCE TEAM A reminder to the dance team that we have a morning practice TOMORROW Jan 17th. WRESTLING TEAM The Laser Wrestling Team travelled to Sarnia to compete last Saturday. Bringing home Gold medals were Jaclyn Lacoboni and Daniel Piccolo, Silver medals were Joy Uchenna and David Ferro, and a Bronze medal was Evan Fransen. Anthony Mailloux took fourth place. Everyone fought well and fought hard. Despite his injury, Max Thibault demonstrated great composure and class, and showed everyone the fierce spirit of our school. If you see any of our wrestlers in the hallway, congratulate them and perhaps come out to support them at the next tournament this Saturday

 LASER NEWS ANNOUNCEMENTS QUEBEC TRIP Everyone who is going on the Quebec Trip, we will be having a meeting TOMORROW at lunch in room 203.  NEW YORK TRIP There will be a mandatory meeting for all those attending the New York trip tomorrow at lunch in room 261. Please bring your fundraiser order forms and money.  DRAMA SWAG  St. Joes Drama Community. Today is the last day to submit your money for this round of Drama t-shirt and hoodie orders. Please have your money in to the main office by the end of lunch today and make sure your order has been placed on our Google Classroom. Orders will go in today and are expected to arrive within a week.
