OECTA CONTEST WINNERS

The OECTA Young Authors Contest celebrates the writing talents of students in poetry, short fiction, plays and nonfiction.  The English department is pleased to announce the winners of this year's writing contest.  

In the junior category, congratulations to Clementine Guarini for placing first in the short story category and Emma Nicoletti for her first place finish in poetry.  The judges would like to recognize Maya Rice with an honourable mention for her short story and Kaeleigh Sinclair for her submission of a play.

In the senior category, the winner of the short story category is Taylor McQueen.  Marta Haireek placed first for both poetry and nonfiction. Sukhdeep Chaggar placed first for his original play.

Our school winners advanced to the unit level contest last week. Congratulations to Marta Haireek for placing first in the nonfiction category.  The judges would also like to award Clementine Guarini an honourable mention for her short story. Good luck to Marta in the provincial contest!



Our Lasers continue to receive recognition in public speaking contests. Congratulations to Angelina Moro for placing second in the Legion Public Speaking Contest and to Melody Turner for representing our school in the contest.

Mr. Gilbert has a 4 minute video to play in honour of International Women’s Day.

JR. BOYS HOCKEY

Attention grade 9&10 hockey players. There is a sign up sheet outside of room 160 for those boys interested in playing in a junior tournament on April 11 &12 At the Atlas tube arena. There will be 2 tryouts and 1 practice before the tournament. All players are encouraged to try out as we are looking for players to represent St. Joseph's next year in the 25 anniversary of the Father Zakoor Cup.

Could Eli Wood see mr Sok’s when registering for the tournament.
