DESTINATION PRESENTATION LINKS
Grads, the Destination Presentation and all-important links have been added to the guidance portal on the St. Joseph's website.  Follow the "Post-Secondary Information" link in the guidance portal to find all of the info.  Please refer to this location for all post-secondary information.

POETRY AT THE MANOR
Are you interested in hearing several poets recite poetry? The annual Poetry at the Manor will take place on Tuesday, October 8 at Willistead Manor in Windsor from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Bring your student card and get a free poetry book. 

COATS FOR KIDS
Each year, before the snow begins to fall, our community rallies together to collect as many gently used coats, hats, and mitts as possible for anyone in Windsor & Essex County who is in need. Our Social Justice Club invites you to support this great cause by bringing any donations of gently used coats, hats or mitts to the Chapel by Friday, October 25. 

HOUSE OF COMMONS RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN
This opportunity is available to all future graduating grade 12 students who maintain a minimum average of 80% and can speak both official languages. To be selected, you must also be accepted into a full-time programme at a university in the National Capital Region. If you are interested, the House of Commons is accepting applications no later than Monday, November 11th of this year and successful candidates will be awarded a one year contract beginning August 2020. For further information go to ourcommons.ca/page or check out the bulletin board display in the guidance office.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Students, a member of the Forest Glade community is looking for a student to help with some lawn care and leaf raking.  This would be a great way to earn your service hours.  If interested, see Ms. Gilbert in guidance.

SWIM TEAM
Attention all lasers, especially grade 9s!! Do you enjoy swimming? Are you familiar with FreeStyle, Back Stroke, Butterfly and Breast Stroke? Then the swim team is for you! There will be an urgent meeting today in room 254 at lunch for any swimmer who would like to join the swim team. Please bring your lunch and plan to stay.

TENNIS TEAM
Here are some updates to last week's WECSSAA Tennis: Congratulations to grade 9 Tarek Alghazali who competed in men's singles last week at the WECSSAA preliminaries. Tarek only had a couple of weeks to prepare and held his own during the two rounds he played. Congratulations also to Liam Duggan who teamed up at the last minute to compete in mixed doubles with Lauren Moreau. While they did not progress to finals, they did increase their score throughout the rounds they played. Congratulations once again to all members of the Lasers Tennis team.

SPORTS FANS

Attention sports fans: start planning your rides now! The Senior Football Team is taking on Riverside High School @ Riverside this Thursday! The game starts at 3:00 pm, so try to carpool and get over to Riverside right after school. It should be a great game! 

CURLING TEAM
If you are interested in joining the curling team, please sign up in room 202 this week. No experience required! There will be a signup sheet posted outside the door. Curling begins October 21st.

STUDENT COUNCIL
A reminder to all Student Council members of our meeting today at lunch in room 253.

SOCIAL JUSTICE
There will be a meeting in room 257 tomorrow at lunch. All are welcome.

LASER NEWS
There will be a laser news meeting on Thursday at lunch in room 258. New members are always welcome, especially students interested in writing!

Are you interested in raising awareness about Cancer in our school community?
