Tuesday's Announcements

UNIVERSITY PIN NUMBERS
Grads, the Ontario University Application Centre PIN numbers were delivered to period 1 class today.  If you did not receive a PIN number and feel that you should have, please make an appointment with your guidance counsellor. If you are on Period 1 spare, please pick up your PIN in the guidance office.

FANSHAWE COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR
Grads, on October 31 Fanshawe College will be here at lunch in the atrium.  Also, the University of Windsor Fall Open House is Saturday, November 2 from 10am to 4pm.  It is recommended that you register on-line for this event.

TAKE YOUR KIDS TO WORK DAY
A reminder goes out to grade 9 students that this year's Take Our Kids To Work Day takes place on Wednesday, November 6th.  Please be sure to return your permission forms to your period 1 teacher on or before Monday, November 4th.  More information will be available at the assembly on Wednesday morning.

GRADE 11 SHSM
A reminder to the GR 11 SHSM health and wellness and Business students interested in the Customer Service certification. You need to stop and pick up a permission form from Mr. Gilbert or the PE office. The trip is limited to 30 students so first to return their forms will be taken.

LOST AND FOUND
The lost and found items are accumulating in the Attendance Office.  There are articles of clothing, water bottles, notebooks.  If you lost something, please check out the lost and found in the Attendance Office.  Anything not claimed by the end of the month will be donated to charity.

SHAD
This message is for all gr. 10 and 11 students who have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math.  SHAD is an enrichment and entrepreneurship program that empowers high school students to recognize their own capabilities and envision their extraordinary potential as tomorrow’s leaders and change-makers. At SHAD participants live at a host university campus outside of their hometown for the month of July. Upon completion of the program, you will become a lifelong member of the impressive SHAD network. You will also receive the SHAD Fellow designation, which is recognized and valued by universities, scholarship providers and employers. If you would like to know more about this amazing opportunity please see Ms. Gilbert in guidance.  The deadline to apply is November 19.  The application is lengthy, so please do not wait until the last minute.

HALLOWEEN FOR HUNGER
Lasers, this is just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to bring in your $2 in order to wear your costume on Halloween. Donations go to St. Vincent De Paul and United Way, so you will be directly helping those experiencing food insecurity in our community. 

BLOOD DRIVE
Any students on period 1 spare should pick up their blood drive appointment slips from the attendance office. 

BOO GRAMS
Do you have a boo this Halloween? Well if not student council is giving you a chance to make a move! Purchase a BOO gram in the laser box starting Monday, October 28th until October 30th! Each gram will be $1 for a bundle and will be delivered during second period on Halloween!

STAFF DINING LOUNGE
The staff dining lounge in room 160 will be open Tuesday to Friday. Check the community web page for this week's menu selection. Put your orders in for taking home pre-cooked or fully cooked pizza every Friday. Thursday's menu will feature Halloween treats including pumpkin soup in a pumpkin, Gooooolash, mummy dogs, and spider web pumpkin cheesecake.

CROSS COUNTRY
Cross country team members please return your washed jerseys toMr. Strong or Ms. Flynn ASAP. Also, if you ordered a cross country long sleeve shirt, please see Mr. Strong, with your money, to pick it up. 

WRESTLING
Wrestling will help you to develop mental toughness and a fearless, confident attitude. In a single wrestling practise, you will improve your cardio, strength, endurance and agility. If you are interested in trying this sport, sign up on the bulletin board list by the PhysEd change rooms, or speak with Mr. Menard or Mrs. Carpio-Sementilli at lunch or after school if you have questions.

CURLING
A reminder to all who signed up for curling, that this afternoon is the last Curling Clinic offered by Roseland Curling Club. Your attendance is required from 3:30-5:30pm if you intend to participate in curling this season. Remember to dress warm, and bring clean shoes.

FOOTBALL
Attention Lasers: it's time for our last football game of the regular season! It will be on Halloween, right after school. That's this coming Thursday! The location is Vista Academy @ 4 o'clock. Please consider sharing rides to come out and support our senior's last high school football game. The players would sure appreciate some fan support!

DANCE TEAM
Anyone interested in trying out for the dance team please sign your name by the stage. That is anyone interested in St. Joe's dance team please sign up. More information to follow!

DRAMA CLUB
A reminder to all students planning to audition for this year's Drama Club - auditions will take place immediately after school in the Drama Room on Wednesday, October 30th.  If you do not have an audition consent form, please see Mrs. D'Alimonte in the Drama Room 163 asap.
