TENNIS TEAM
Congratulations to the members of the tennis team who participated in the WECSSAA preliminary competition this past Friday. We had many team members who were new to Tennis this year and had a matter of weeks to prepare for the tournament. Brenna Johnstone and Xiana Yanez Parez worked well as a team but were knowcked out after two rounds. Joshua Duggan partnered with first time player Lauren Moreau; while they did not advance at the tournament, they were able to increase their points in the second game. Kyle Suralvo played mens doubles with a first timer, Sanar Qamboor. They lost their first game but came back to win the following three but were knocked out in the final round. Another team playing men's doubles, Eric Kusz and Jeremiah Jedrzejczak had the same record, losing in their first game but sporting an amazing comeback to win the next three before also being knocked out in the final round. It seems like our team used the first rouund as a warmup as Keagan Yap also gave up the first game only to come back and win the next three. Keagan's final game was against a fierce opponent and he held his own forcing the game into an exciting tie-breaking round which ended up in his opponent's favour.
Team member, Anika Yap automatically advances to SWOSSAA next week as she plays at a level recognized by the Ontario Tennis Association.
Congratulations to all team members; they demonstrated excellent teamwork and skill and were very supportive of each other.
